VELAS | Artur Lima follows up on expansion works at João Inácio de Sousa Nursing Home
The Vice-President of the Regional Government of the Azores, Artur Lima, visited the João Inácio de Sousa Nursing Home in Velas to follow up on the expansion and upgrading works, having also met with the institution’s board.
“We began the expansion and upgrading works of the institution’s kitchen in this legislative period, investing an amount of about 644 thousand Euros, and I am very pleased to see that they are already in the final phase,” noted the government official.
During his visit, Artur Lima confirmed that this work will allow the institution “to have the ideal conditions for the provision of food services in its various social responses.”
And he continued: “It will also significantly improve the working and safety conditions of its employees when carrying out their activities.”
In addition to the intervention intended to upgrade the kitchen, it was also necessary to replace the cafeteria floor.
“The Government also financed the upgrading works in the sanitary facilities, amounting to almost 59 thousand Euros, which have already been completed,” he recalled.
The João Inácio de Sousa Nursing Home is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS) located in the village of Velas, which comprises five social responses: residential structure for the elderly, caregiver rest and emergency shelter, day centre, home support service and temporary accommodation centre.
