TERCEIRA | First stone laid for construction of 13 dwellings in São Brás parish, Praia da Vitória
The Vice-President of the Regional Government, Artur Lima, chaired today the ceremony marking the signing of the consignment agreement and the laying of the first stone for the construction of 13 dwellings in the parish of São Brás, municipality of Praia da Vitória.
“We are awarding today the works contract and symbolically laying the first stone for the construction of 13 dwellings in the parish of São Brás,” said the Vice-President of the Government.
“This neighbourhood development is a good example of a long history of promises and non-compliance,” he said, recalling that its permit had been “issued in 2004.”
“This has been here for 20 years. We have managed to make this happen today and, therefore, we have responded to a housing shortage that is chronic in the Region,” he recalled.
According to the government official, the construction of these dwellings is a ” response provided by the Government” to the housing shortage and to the middle class, which will be complemented by other investments in the municipality.
“This is the first investment in a series of dwellings that we are going to build in Praia da Vitória. There will be around 100 new dwellings,” he said, recalling the construction of 92 dwellings in the Nascer do Social neighbourhood and the permanent redevelopment of the Nossa de Fátima neighbourhood.
The works contract has a base price of €2,480,392.17 (including VAT) and is aimed at the construction of single-family dwellings, eight of which are two-bedroom dwellings, four three-bedroom dwellings and one four-bedroom dwellings. These dwellings will be available under the lease with purchase option scheme, which has been the ultimate goal of the investments included in the RRP.
In April 2023, Artur Lima was in São Brás where the public tender was launched for the implementation of this investment and the respective project was presented.
In August, the Vice-Presidency of the Government announced that the construction of the 13 dwellings had been awarded to the company Marques S.A., following a public tender procedure.
