NEW’S | Renovation of access area to Topo quay represents 160 thousand-Euro investment

The Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures has just awarded, through direct award, the works contract for the renovation of the pavement of the access to the Topo quay in the municipality of Calheta, São Jorge Island.

The work, which will be carried out by the company Tecnovia – Açores, represents an investment of 150,800 Euros (plus VAT at the legal rate in force).

Berta Cabral, Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, points out that “the Topo quay holds a great potential for the municipality of Calheta, both in terms of the fisheries sector and the development of tourism, with particular emphasis on maritime-tourism activities.”

In this context, the government official considers the work in question as being of “clear relevance, since it will significantly improve access to that area, providing better conditions not only for the fishing sector but also for the development of tourism.”

According to Berta Cabral, this work “meets the wishes of the population and entrepreneurs of Calheta, and represents the fulfilment of a Government commitment included in the Regional Annual Plan.”
