NEW’S | President of the Government opened stabilisation works at Pedro Miguel fishing port in Faial
The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, opened today the stabilisation works of the adjacent cliff and the access road to the Pedro Miguel fishing port in Horta, Faial Island, stressing that the investment will improve accessibility to the area and increase its safety.
“We have endeavoured to recover what nature has inevitably deteriorated,” he said, pointing out that the port in question was one of the infrastructures affected by Hurricane Lorenzo in 2019.
“Making and remaking, enhancing the territory and creating essential conditions for the protection of the coastline and its use” are the cornerstones of the Government’s interventions in similar infrastructures, he added.
Today’s session was also attended by the Regional Secretaries for the Sea, the Environment and Infrastructures, Manuel São João, Alonso Miguel and Berta Cabral respectively.
Overall, 130 thousand Euros were invested in the work inaugurated today.
