The Vice-Presidency of the Regional Government of the Azores, through the Regional Directorate for Social Solidarity, published today in the Official Journal a series of value-investment cooperation contracts aimed at improving the social responses of the Free Time Activity Centres (CATL) on Graciosa island, representing a global investment of about 130 thousand Euros.

One of the value-investment cooperation contracts signed with the Santa Casa da Misericórdia da Vila de Santa Cruz da Graciosa aims to carry out refurbishment and improvement works in the new Free Time Activity Centre (CATL) in Santa Cruz, an investment of 86 thousand Euros.

By the end of this week, the works will be awarded to the company Vila Jardim – Construção e Reparação de Edifícios.

According to the Vice-President of the Government, Artur Lima, this investment follows the transition of the children from the O Balão kindergarten to the public preschool network.

“The Vice-Presidency of the Government has defined as a priority the creation of a larger Free Time Activity Centre, which will now become a reality,” said the government official.

“The space where this Free Time Occupation Centre will operate is located opposite the Santa Cruz Elementary School and Kindergarten, which makes it easier for the children to move between the school and this centre, reducing eventual inconveniences for families,” added indicated Artur Lima.

“This Free Time Activity Centre will have its capacity increased to 33 vacancies, which will improve the response to all children benefitting from this social response,” he said.

According to Artur Lima, the “Government of the Azores is carefully improving the network of social responses on Graciosa island” with the “ambition” of “continuing a path to bring dignity to all Azorean families.”

Moreover, the cooperation contract for the purchase of equipment and educational material for the new Free Time Activity Centre, an investment of about 27 thousand Euros, was also published today in the Official Journal.

In turn, the Vice-Presidency of the Government will also support the acquisition of equipment for the Free Time Activity Centre in Guadalupe up to 16 thousand Euros.
