NEWS | Azorean Government promotes 1st National Meeting of Houses of the Azores in Lisbon

The first National Meeting of Houses of the Azores will take place next Saturday, January 24, at the House of the Azores of Lisbon.

Promoted by the Regional Government, the initiative will be attended by the Regional Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs and Communities, Paulo Estêvão, and the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Food, António Ventura. The event highlights the importance of the role of the Houses of the Azores in promoting Azorean identity, culture and economy in Portugal.

The meeting brings together leaders of the Houses of the Azores based in Mainland Portugal, namely in Lisbon, the North, the Central Region and the Autonomous Region of Madeira, as well as representatives of the Houses in the process of becoming established in the Algarve and Alentejo in 2026.

The proceedings will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the Regional Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs and Communities, Paulo Estevão, proposing the creation of a national network of Houses of the Azores, which will facilitate joint initiatives and promote cultural exchange between existing Houses and those in the process of being established.

Starting at 11:30 a.m., there will be a training session on the Azores Brand, attended by the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Food, António Ventura, to support the Houses of the Azores in their efforts to promote Azorean products nationwide. During this phase, participants will have the opportunity to learn in detail about the Azores Brand’s strategies and reflect on ways to promote regional products.

The Regional Director for the Communities, José Andrade, and the Director of the Azores Brand Management and Promotion Office, Paulo Teves, are also participating in this National Meeting of Houses of the Azores.

The House of the Azores of Lisbon will be represented by its president, Delfina Porto, and vice-president, Ricardo Vieira; the Casa dos Açores do Norte will be represented by its president, Miguel Azevedo, and treasurer, Maria João Botelho; the House of the Azores of Madeira will be represented by its Carlos Madruga da Costa, and the president of the general assembly, Paulo Sousa; the House of the Azores of the Central Region will be represented by its president, Francisco Coelho Gil, and the president of the general assembly, Paula Amaral; and the House of the Azores of the Algarve, currently in the process of establishment, will be represented by its promoters, Paula Medeiros and Rui Jacinto.

The First National Meeting of Houses of the Azores is a key moment for strengthening cooperation among Houses, fostering coordinated and strategic action to highlight Azorean identity, add value to its products, and promote the Azores Brand in Mainland Portugal.
