The 1st European Conference on Geographical Indications aimed to share and carry out an in-depth analysis of Geographical Indications. It was attended by national and foreign experts.
For two days, Geographical Indications were debated from a wide range of perspectives, including the experience of European producers and national producer groups, the impact on gastronomic heritage and the development of rural areas, but also their role in sustainability and the importance of compliance monitoring.
There are currently more than 1,000 farmers in the Azores dedicated to producing PDO and PGI-certified products.
