The Regional Secretary for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment delivered the hospitality training certificates to more than 100 trainees enrolled in the temporary social and professional integration programme PROSA.QUALIFICA.

The ceremony was held at the Azores Qualification Centre (former Capelas Vocational School). On the occasion, Maria João Carreiro stated that it is “an important day that marks the beginning of a path that is expected to be fruitful, both personally and professionally, for more than a hundred people who had some difficulty in entering the labour market and who, through this training, will have their skills strengthened.

“With PROSA.QUALIFICA, we intend to strengthen the skills of these adults in areas with recruitment needs, such as hospitality, accelerating their integration into the labour market and creating opportunities for them to achieve professional stability and improve their living conditions,” she explained.

The XIII Government of the Azores created the first training programme under PROSA.QUALIFICA with the aim of strengthening and improving the qualifications and employability of Azoreans covered by social and professional integration measures (occupational programmes). It began in February last year.

Overall, there were a total of 8 groups, two for each of the three courses: Hotel Housekeeping (36 trainees), Hotel Maintenance (37 trainees) and Local Accommodation Receptionist (35 trainees). The 300-hour training plans comprised unemployed people from all the islands who are currently enrolled in occupation programmes.

The selection of candidates for the training took into account not only their qualifications but also their expectations about entering the labour market, combining what are, in effect, the recruitment needs with their skills and preferences.

These trainees can now benefit from hiring support measures, such as the CONTRATAR Estável as well as from support measures for active job search, such as PRO ATIVO, whose support can reach up to two times the regional minimum wage.
