NEW’S | José Manuel Bolieiro highlights visit of Minister of Internal Administration with “good expectations

The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, highlighted on Tuesday the visit of the Minister of Internal Administration (MAI) to the Region as one with “good expectations.”

“It was a visit with good expectations and commitment from the Minister towards his responsibilities, the Azores and the Portuguese residing on the nine islands, as far as Civil Protection, Internal Security, through the Public Security Police (PSP) and the National Republican Guard (GNR) are concerned. We are counting on you and you can count on the Government of the Azores,” stressed the President of the Government.

José Manuel Bolieiro spoke at the German Colony in Horta, after a meeting with the MAI, José Luís Carneiro, who visited the island of Faial on Monday and Tuesday.

“You can count on the Regional Government for this cooperation. This does not take away the budget responsibilities of the State and the internal administration, but makes the Regional Government willing to cooperate,” the President of the Regional Government also declared, addressing José Luís Carneiro.

Both José Manuel Bolieiro and the MAI highlighted the Azores as the safest region in the country, as confirmed by the Annual Internal Security Report 2022, according to which the Azores were the only region in the country to register a decrease in the general crime rate.

“I am pleased to note that the State understands that the integrity of the territory is achieved through commitment,” the President of the Government also pointed out.
