FAIAL | Public Works department transfers use of warehouse to Clube Naval da Horta
The Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures informs that, at a meeting held this afternoon with the Board of the Clube Naval da Horta, a solution was found and agreed upon for the need to store the boats and other equipment owned by this nautical club.
The Faial Island Office of the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures will transfer the use of a warehouse near the Horta port so that the Clube Naval can store various boats and other equipment, given the difficulties in finding a suitable facility.
“A commitment has already been made to support the Clube Naval in this transition period with the provision of the “locomotive warehouse” located in front of the Public Works office,” said Berta Cabral, Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures.
“The board of Clube Naval was looking for a solution, which has already been defined, and we are going to work together to find a long-term solution that will bring more dignity and live up to the institution’s reputation,” she added.
She continued: “The solution we have found, in addition to meeting the immediate space needs of this nautical club, also has the advantage of being in the immediate vicinity of the Horta port, which simplifies all the logistics, according to what has been conveyed to us by the board of the club.”
The Clube Naval da Horta is an organisation of significant importance to the island of Faial, given its role in the blue economy and the historical link between the island and the sea. It also plays a fundamental role in the practice of sports as well as in their educational component for young people.
“We are always available and ready to discuss and look for practical solutions to help these institutions that are fundamental to our social, economic and sporting reality, within the reach of our powers and resources,” stated Berta Cabral.
