About 80 entities promoting projects under the Youth Free Time Occupation (OTL-J) Summer programme, from all islands of the Azores, took part in the training course “Designing the Future: Tools and Methods for Transformative and Impactful Projects,” an initiative promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment, through the Regional Directorate for Youth.

The provision of training for promoters was a commitment made by Maria João Carreiro, Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, in August 2022, with a view to “increasingly adapting projects to the programme’s goals and the interests and expectations of young people.”

The training took place online in March and marks the beginning of preparations for this year’s edition of the free-time programme that mobilises hundreds of young Azoreans annually.

It aims to ensure that the entities promoting the programme clearly understand the different stages of the project cycle. Moreover, it will also enable them to identify and implement strategies and practices promoting youth participation at all project stages and encouraging active participation and collaboration among partners.

Young Azoreans aged between 15 and 23 can apply to OTL-J, and the projects should be developed in July or August.

The OTL-J Summer 2024 application period for entities and young people runs from April 1 to 30 on the programme’s platform at https://otl.azores.gov.pt
