FAIAL | Horta bypass is good project and “got better,” says José Manuel Bolieiro
The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, attended the session held at the Horta City Hall to monitor the progress of the Works Contract for the Construction of the 2nd phase of the Horta bypass. On the occasion, he sustained that the project was good and “got better” with the dialogue among all parties involved.
The project “has progressed from good to better” as the constraints that it could pose, for example, to the development of a project for the Manuel de Arriaga School have been removed, noted José Manuel Bolieiro.
“We are in the process of awarding the works contract, with the expectation that the work will already be awarded and begin in August. It is funded under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP),” said the President of the Government.
For “strategic reasons and to speed up the process,” the Regional Government has proceeded with the previous design of the RRP-funded investment designated as “Logistics Routes,” which concerns the Azores regional road network.
The tender for the Construction of the 2nd phase of the Horta bypass on Faial Island has a base price exceeding 15 million Euros and a completion period of 730 days. It includes earthworks, paving works, ancillary works, drainage infrastructures, placement of road signage and the installation of public lighting, in addition to two engineering works.
