The Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, through the Regional Civil Engineering Laboratory (LREC), made the public presentation of the “Handbook on Seismic Safety and Reinforcement of Traditional Masonry Buildings in the Azores.”
This handbook is the result of a partnership between LREC and the University of Minho, compiling years of research and consolidating the knowledge produced.
The Regional Secretary recalled that this handbook is intended to be a reference for the rehabilitation of masonry buildings in the Azores, ensuring adequate seismic safety in accordance with the legislation in force.
Mentioning the importance of these contributions from LREC to the construction sector in a Region with specific characteristics, Berta Cabral recalled that “the beginning of the new EU programming period will be crucial for the entire sector.”
The launch session was chaired by Berta Cabral and the presentation of the handbook was made by Paulo Lourenço, Professor at the University of Minho, one of the authors.
