The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, received Massachusetts State Representative António “Tony” Cabral at an audience held today. They discussed the “strategic future” of the relations between the Azores and the United States as well as topics such as climate change, science and the importance of the sea and its protection

“This frequency of visits represents the intensity that “Tony” Cabral demonstrates as a prominent politician from the Azorean diaspora in the democratic institutions of the United States, particularly in the State of Massachusetts,” emphasised José Manuel Bolieiro, who spoke at the Sant’Ana Palace in Ponta Delgada.

Last year, “Tony” Cabral had been received at an audience granted by the President of the Government of the Azores.

For José Manuel Bolieiro, “science, research and technology” are decisive elements for the future of the relations between the Azores and the United States. Nevertheless, festival traditions, among others, should not be forgotten.

The Azores as a “paradise and a destination of discovery” for Americans, not just for those from the diaspora, were also discussed by the President of the Government and “Tony” Cabral.
