The applications for support for the modernisation of Vocational Schools in the Region, under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) for the Azores, are now open. The Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment, informs that Vocational Schools must submit their application on the Recuperar Portugal platform until August 31.

The Opening Notice was published today on that Platform with an allocation of five million Euros to Vocational Schools for the acquisition of new equipment, refurbishment and upgrading of workshops, laboratories and training rooms, as well as for the purchase of licences absolutely necessary for the operation of the equipment acquired.

The goal of Measure M9 – Support for Vocational Schools with Intervention in Vocational Training and Reconversion of Adults in the Azores is to promote a better response of Vocational Schools to the new challenges of digital skills, distance learning and the labour market itself.

The support to be granted under this measure takes the form of a non-reimbursable grant, with the financing to the Vocational Schools being ensured at 100% under the RRP.

As announced by the Regional Secretary for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment, Maria João Carreiro, on June 29, the Regional Government decided that the VAT costs incurred by Vocational Schools with the acquisition of new equipment will be borne by the Regional Budget, so as to exempt these entities from these costs and ensure that they can benefit from this funding opportunity.

As it was initially determined, the measure imposed on Vocational Schools the payment of VAT due on the new acquisitions, and for this reason, the Azorean Government has decided to support Vocational Schools by exempting them from this cost, which means that Vocational Schools will not incur any cost with the purchase of new equipment,” she said.
