The Regional Secretary for Health and Sport, Dr. Mónica Seidi, travelled to Flores to take part in the 8th Workshop on Good Practices in Health in the Regional Health Service.
The initiative, also attended by Pedro Paes, Regional Director for Health, was organised by the Regional Directorate for Health and the Flores Health Unit, with the support of local councils.
The Mayor of Santa Cruz das Flores, José Carlos Pimentel Mendes, the Mayor of Lajes das Flores, Luís Maciel, and the President of the Flores Health Unit, Bruno Gonçalves, also attended the event, which took place at the Santa Cruz das Flores Municipal Auditorium.
On Saturday, several health professionals from the Horta, Ponta Delgada and Angra do Heroísmo Hospitals, along with those from the Santa Maria, São Miguel, São Jorge, Pico and Terceira Health Units, discussed a series of matters concerning good practices in different aspects of this theme.
Mónica Seidi recalled that “for those who work in health, patients are and will always be the most important.”
“This is precisely the reason why it is so important to promote actions that remind us that providing good care to those who seek it also involves taking care, not only of ourselves, but of each other, and even of the infrastructures that house us and the environment that surrounds us,” she said.
The health professionals presented the results of good practice proposals implemented in their Health Units, seeking to share their experiences with other professionals in the area and win the Good Practice in Health Awards.
“Embassy of Quality” by Sofia Oliveira, from the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital, Ponta Delgada, came in third place; “Nursing Teleconsultation for Cancer Patients Undergoing Oral Antineoplastic Therapy” by Isabel Andrade, from the Horta Hospital, came in second; and “Calculate to Decide in Health”, by Ângela Lourenço, from the São Miguel Health Unit, came in first.
